Adilabad: Movement of a tiger triggered panic among rural folks in Chanduri and Rajulguda villages in Utnoor mandal on Sunday.

A male tiger attacked cattle grazing in the forests of Chandur, panicking farmers and shepherds. It earlier made an unsucessful bid to kill cattle in the forests of Rajulguda on Saturday. Farmers were on the edge following the presence of a tiger in the forests. The tiger sighted in the forests of Mamada and Pembi mandals of Nirmal was suspected to have drifted towards Utnoor on Friday.

The Forest officials urged the dwellers of forest fringe villages not to venture deep inside of the forests. They requested the villagers not to harm the tiger by setting electrified fences meant for protecting crop damage by wild boars and herbivores. They advised the farmers to avoid sudden confrontation with the tiger. They assured the compensation would be given quickly.

The officials said that steps were being taken to ensure smooth passage for the tiger. They stated that CCTV camera traps were installed, while animal trackers were deployed to track the movement of the big cat. They informed that the tiger might be searching for suitable territory and a female companion as it was the season of mating for tigers.
