Karimnagar: Food safety taskforce team conducted inspections in Maitri hotel and sweet shop here on Friday. While checking Maitri hotel, the task force team found some food items preserved in the refrigerator without following food safety norms.

Besides chicken drumsticks applied by harmful colors, meat products stored in plastic covers which has no food grade, rusted cooking bowls and fungus formed vegetables were also found.

Besides destroying 20 kg (Rs 25,000 worth) of meat products, they issued notices to hotel management. Later, they conducted a check in Mithaiwala sweet house and destroyed Rs 7000 worth expired food packets and other food items.

Speaking on the occasion, Taskforce head and Assistant Food Controller V Jyothirmayi informed that a notice under FSSAI Act was issued to sweet shop management and a case has also been registered for playing with the health of the people by selling food items in unhygienic conditions.
