Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended the last rites of industrialist Ratan Tata on behalf of the Government of India. Ratan Tata’s body was kept at NCPA lawns, Nariman Point in Mumbai for people to pay their respects and homage to the philanthropist.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the last rites of Mr Tata will be performed with full state honours. During this period, the national flag will fly at half-mast in government offices in the state and no entertainment or entertainment programs will be organized. CM has announced state mourning on Thursday (October 10).
Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons and a philanthropist, died on October 9. He was 86. He was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital in a critical condition, where he breathed his last. Several politicians and industry leaders have expressed shock and grief over RatanTata‘s death.
In a statement, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said, “It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences on Mr Tata’s death. He called him “a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul and an extraordinary human being”.

Ratan Tata had a long association with Assam, where the Tata Group had made early investments in the tea industry. Industrial Ratan Tata’s last ‘pet project’ months before he died was a hospital for animals in Mumbai. Located in Mahalaxmi, the hospital opened in July and is a five-storey centre that can house almost 200 patients.
Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, died at 86. Just on Monday, the industrialist in a social media post had dismissed speculation surrounding his health and had said he was undergoing routine medical investigations due to his age.

I think whenever the economic history of modern India is written, I would feel that a full volume will not be enough to describe his achievements…A great son of India and a phenomenal person. Industrialist Ratan Tata, in an exclusive interview with NDTV in 2010, recalled an interesting conversation he had with a fellow billionaire. Mr Tata said the billionaire suggested he pay ₹ 15 crore to a minister for an undisclosed business deal.

Ratan Tata’s Last Rites To Be Held At Worli Crematorium
Ratan Tata’s body will be brought to the Parsi crematorium in Worli at around 4 pm. The body will be kept in the prayer hall where around 200 people can be present. Prayer will be held here for about 45 minutes. Following this, the body will be kept in an electric crematorium and the funeral process will be completed.
Ratan Tata, graduate of Cornell University, joined the class of 1959 to study mechanical engineering. However, two years later, he decided to major in architecture instead. But he didn’t pursue a career in architecture either as he was called back to the family business.
“When Ratan Tata graduated from Cornell with a degree in architecture, it would have been impossible to imagine the global impact his visionary leadership, philanthropy and commitment to humanity would go on to have – advancing education and research across many sectors,” said J. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday spoke to Noel Tata and expressed condolences on the death of his sibling, veteran industrialist Ratan Tata, reported news agency ANI.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said he “can’t believe” that Ratan Tata is no more. A one-day state mourning has been declared in Jharkhand as he described the industrialist as a person “who gave world recognition to a backward state”.

In honour of veteran industrialist Padma Vibushan Ratan Tata, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced state mourning on Thursday (October 10). This will be a state funeral as a tribute to Ratan Tata. During this period, the national flag will fly at half-mast in government offices in the state and no entertainment or entertainment programs will be organized.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has also instructed to perform the last rites of Ratan Tata with state honours.
Ratan Tata’s body will be taken to the NCPA Lawns, Nariman Point in Mumbai at 10:30am today, for people to pay their last respects and homage to the departed soul.
Public has been requested to enter NCPA Lawns from gate number 3 and exit from gate number 2. There will be no parking available at the premises. At 3.30 pm, the body will be taken for the final rites.

Maharashtra, deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis hailed Tata’s work in areas of education, rural development and malnourishment. Tata’s compassion was visible through the work done by the Tata Trust “for cancer patients or establishment of a hospital for animals,” Mr Fadnavis said.
