Based on the reports and proposals submitted by concerned MPDOs, district Collector Muzammil Khan submitted a proposal the director of municipal administration to constitute Edulapuram Municipality by merging 12 gram panchayats.

Khammam: The State government has planned to create a new municipality in Khammam district and sought reports from the concerned officials. The new municipality was being created at the request of Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
According to the minister with the existence of several agro-based industries, granite industries and educational institutions 10 gram panchayats- Barugudem, Chinna Gollagudem, Gudimalla, Venkatagiri, Edulapuram, Gurralapadu, Maddulapally, Muthagudem, Peddathanda and Polepally of Khammam rural mandal witnessed rapid growth with clear transition from rural to urban landscape.
