KTR addressing a public rally after inaugurating an IT tower in Nizamabad.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao, on Wednesday, 9 August, said the time has come for voters to choose between Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao — a leader known to deliver on promises — and Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy, a leader who is “identified with carrying money bags”.
Addressing a huge public meeting at Nizamabad after inaugurating an IT tower, KTR, who is also IT and Industries Minister, said that the contest in the state was now between a leader who had forced the Centre to accede to the formation of Telangana — and another who was caught with ₹50 lakh cash in the infamous note-for-vote scam.
“Revanth Reddy is a former jailbird and a third-class criminal,” KTR said.

He said the Congress made Revanth Reddy the president of state unit as it did not have any other leader.
The party, which has no credibility, is coming to you to seek votes, he said. And it doing so after hurting the farmers of Telangana by saying that three hours of power supply was enough for the farm sector in the state.
In this light, KTR asked the farmers to decide between the Congress — and BRS, which gives them “enough power supply to grow three crops in a year”.
KTR also took a swipe at the BJP for igniting the flames of communalism in Manipur and Haryana. They are making a bonfire of humanity in the hope of garnering a few votes, he said.
“They are doing chillar politics,” he said, and reminded the people that the ensuing Assembly election — slated for year-end — was a fight between the self-respect of Telangana and the Delhi-based Congress and BJP.
Packing another a powerful punch at the Congress, he said the party had the temerity to approach the voters for their support after doing nothing for the last 50 years.
They are now out to betray the people with glib talk, he said.
“Revanth Reddy claims to be a real Telangana protagonist. But he is a disease eating into Telangana,” KTR said, recalling Reddy carrying a rifle to face a crowd of Telangana activists during the days of the movement for a separate state.
Taking potshots at BJP’s Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind, KTR said that he was sure to lose his security deposit in his next election.
“The people have already made up their mind to inflict a humiliating defeat on him regardless of from where he contests,” he said, and asked voters to drive away all BJP contestants from the electoral battlefield.
He said under the stewardship of KCR, Telangana was witnessing rapid progress on all fronts.
“Now IT hub has come up in a town like Nizamabad which could not even be dreamt of in the past. Now IT companies are eager to set up their units in district headquarters,” he said, and asked: “Is this not development?”
