Telangana Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supremo K Chandrashekar Rao or KCR has said that the Viprahitha Telangana Brahmana Samkshema Sadan would become the country’s spiritual and religious information hub.
KCR inaugurated this Brahmin Sadan Wednesday, saying that it would flourish as a centre of Sanatana Dharma. The heads of various peethams and shrines from across the country attended the inauguration event.
Opening Brahmin Sadan, KCR said the spiritual and religious activities have been spreading across Telangana with the revival of temples and community centres.
Built at a cost of over Rs 12 crore by the BRS government, Brahmin Sadan is spread over six acres at Gopanpally on the outskirts of Hyderabad. It comprises of four buildings including an administrative block, a marriage hall, an auditorium, and rooms for seers.
At Brahmin Sadan, a library would be set up with spiritual literature, Vedas, Puranas, and Upanishads, in print as well as digital publications. “A community centre is also likely to be established which can be accessed by people of all communities. The CM said that Brahmin Sadan is the first of its kind in the country and it should become an ideal religious and spiritual information centre in the country,’’ said Telangana Brahmin Samakhya Parishad chairman K V Ramana Chary.
Brahmin Sadan is one of many community-specific buildings built by the KCR-led BRS government as part of its bid to reach out to all communities in the state. Apart from these buildings, the BRS government has undertaken revamp and renovation of famous ancient temples, such as the Yadagirigutta temple at a cost of Rs 2,000-crore and the Kondagatu temple, at cost of Rs 1,000-crore, dedicated to Lord Hanuman in Jagtial district.
These projects are part of the BRS’s wide-ranging efforts to keep the BJP – whom it accuses of allegedly creating division between communites and practising polarising politics – at bay in the run-up to the state Assembly polls slated for December this year.
The BRS government has built Adivasi Bhavan and Banjara Bhavan in Hyderabad, while Christian Bhavan is under construction at Uppal. On May 24, the CM also approved the allocation of two acres of land for construction of Jain Bhavan at Uppal Bhagyath.
The state government has built 41 “self-respect” buildings for various Backward Classes (BCs) communities in and around Hyderabad. These buildings are used by the members of these communities to hold conferences, conduct marriages and celebrate festivals.
The CM has allocated Rs 5 crore for restoration of Kanadda Sahitya Vedika in Hyderabad and for renovation of Karnataka Sahitya Mandira located at Kachiguda in Hyderabad.
On May 8, KCR announced a Rs 25 crore donation to the Hare Krishna Movement’s Heritage Tower. The CM laid the foundation stone for the 400- feet high heritage tower, which would be built at a cost of Rs 200 crore on a six-acre campus at Narsingi on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Speaking at this function, the CM said, “There is nothing wrong in the religion. Religious ignorance and fanaticism is a threat to us. Religion does not encourage us to make mistakes. But religious stupidity takes all human beings into a madness. Religious madness prompts humans to commit inhuman acts. There is no place for violence in any religion. Religion is the cause for violence all over the world.”
