BRS members said that the party will focus their efforts on the districts that border Telangana, also known as Kalyana Karnataka.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) led by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, is all set to ally with the Janata Dal (Secular) party for the upcoming Karnataka elections. KCR, as the Telangana CM is known, will likely campaign for JD(S) in districts bordering Telangana in the Kalyana Karnataka region, including Kalaburagi, Yadgir, and Bidar.

“JD(S) is our natural ally and we will go with the party. We want to ensure that the JD(S) is successful in the elections”, a source in the BRS told news agency PTI. They added that the party would campaign for JD(S) in the areas of Karnataka where “Telugu-speaking people are densely populated.” In May last year, before his party became a national one, KCR met with JD(S) supremo HD Devegowda. Devegowda and his son and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy were invited for the launch of the BRS in Hyderabad in October 2022. Telangana is also set to go to polls this year.
Last week, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also offered the support of Trinamool Congress (TMC) to JD(S) in Karnataka. “Mamata Banerjee agreed to Kumaraswamy’s request to campaign in Karnataka. She has asked him to send her a schedule,” Kumaraswamy said.
