Addressing the public meeting, KCR said that every farmer in the country should receive Rs 10,000 per year as crop investment support from the government like the Telangana government is giving to farmers in the southern state. “The condition of farmers has not changed during the rule of the Congress and the BJP. It is time for a change. I want to implement the Telangana model of support for farmers and various other sections of the society all over the country,’’ he said.
“Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bheema, and the schemes planned for the alleviation of Dalits are being implemented in Telangana and the same would be set into force in all the places where the BRS is planning to venture,” KCR further said.
People from 16 mandals of the Nanded district attended the public meeting Sunday. The BRS had deployed special campaign vehicles fitted with LED TV sets to showcase the development in Telangana.
The elections for several municipal corporations in Maharashtra, including Nanded, are to be held in the coming months. The BRS is reportedly keen on testing the waters in the Nanded corporation polls. On February 5, KCR addressed a public meeting at Bhokar in Nanded.
In February, the BRS approached the Maharashtra State Election Commission seeking recognition as a registered political party and allotment of the party’s ‘car’ poll symbol.
KCR had recently named the party’s six divisional coordinators in Maharashtra, appointing Dasarath Sawanth to this position for Nashik, Balasaheb Jairam Deshmukh for Pune, Vijay Tanaji Mohite for Mumbai, Somnath Thorat for Aurangabad, Dyanesh Wakudkar for Nagpur, and Nikhil Deshmukh for Amaravati division. He also appointed farmer leader Manik Kadam as the president of the party’s Maharashtra kisan cell. They were all present during Sunday’s meeting and officially joined the BRS.
Several Maharashtra NCP leaders – including president of its kisan cell Shankaranna Dhonge, former MLA Nagnath Ghisewad, Nanded district chief Datta Pawar, state youth secretary Shivraj Dhonge, spokesperson Sunil Patil, Loha president Subhash Vakore, Kandhar chief Datta Karamange, and zilla parishad members, among others – also joined the BRS Sunday.
