While presenting the Maharashtra State Budget for 2026–27, Chief Minister and Finance Minister Devendra Fadnavis today announced a farm loan waiver scheme under which crop loans of up to ₹2 lakh taken by farmers will be written off.

The move is aimed at providing relief to farmers facing financial stress. Fadnavis said the scheme will cover all eligible farmers whose crop loans remained unpaid as of 30 September 2025.

Alongside the waiver, the government has also announced an incentive of ₹50,000 for farmers who have repaid their crop loans regularly and on time. The incentive is intended to reward borrowers who maintain financial discipline while extending support to those struggling with repayment.

The state government said detailed guidelines on implementation and eligibility criteria for the scheme will be announced separately.
