36 naxals killed in encounter in Chhattisgarh, PLGA 6th company suffers huge loss


Kothagudem: As many as 36 naxals were killed in an exchange of fire between security personnel and Maoists in the south Abujhmad area on the borders of Narayanpur-Dantewada districts on Friday.

Police said that a joint police party of Narayanpur-Dantewada district went on a search operation on receiving information about the presence of Maoists in the area. The exchange of fire that started at 1 pm between Nendur and Thulthuli villages continued until late evening hours and search operations were going on.


Dantewada SP Gaurav Rai told the media that AK 47, SLR and many other weapons were seized. Dead bodies of 14 naxals were recovered so far and there was a possibility of naxal casualties increasing further.

The personnel from District Reserve Guard and Special Task Force took part in the operation. According to sources, the PLGA 6th company suffered a huge loss in the encounter.
